Happy New Year! It's time to break out the blender, the running shoes, the heart monitor, and the healthy foods! If this sounds like your New Year's Resolution, it can seem a bit overwhelming. We recommend starting slow by replacing one meal a day with a healthier option. Maybe you reach for coffee or a bagel for breakfast? Instead, try replacing it with a smoothie.

We love the healthy impact that smoothies have on our bodies. Healthy smoothies can give you the same kickstart that you feel from coffee because you're basically mainlining all of those nutrients right into your body. Blending your fruits and veggies allows our bodies to absorb the vitamins and nutrients quicker and easier because there is less digestion involved. Plus, we prefer blending over juicing fruits and vegetables, because blending keeps all of the fiber that your body needs!

So let's get to blending! See how we made it:

Here we have two healthy smoothie options - Powerhouse Protein and Very Veggie. It's the base of these smoothies that really gives it the extra *umph* of vitamins & nutrients. Start with the Amaz!n Prune Juice from Sunsweet. These prunes (dried plums) are super healthy fruits that are low in calories, and an excellent source of fiber. Sunsweet has created this healthy juice from their Amaz!n Prunes – and it is perfect for smoothies, or even a fun mocktail!

Powerhouse Protein Amaz!n Prune Juice Smoothie:

  • 1 cup Amaz!n Prune Juice
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1/2 cup strawberries
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 1 tbsp Peanut Butter (or nut butter of your choice)
  • 2 tbsp Chia Seeds

Very Veggie Amaz!n Prune Juice Smoothie:

Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. For a thinner consistency, add more prune juice. For a thicker consistency, add prune juice a small amount at a time and stop blending when it’s to your liking.
