I was shopping for groceries with a friend, and she commented on the bread I was buying. She asked what sprouted wheat bread meant? And I realized, I'm not even sure! I just know that it's good for you. Why? I had no idea .... so I put my detective hat on and...

I love walking into a kitchen where something has been baking – the smell just takes me right back to my childhood. What can I say? Cakes, cookies and brownies were practically staple foods in my house! And did I outgrow it? No way! One way I feel better about it, however, is knowing that when I'm cooking desserts, I'm using pure and quality ingredients. Many of my recipes call for sweetened condensed milk, which got me thinking. What exactly goes into this sweetened condensed milk? Is it good for me? Hmmm....

Being a Southern woman, I like to eat! My Mom used to make us sit down at the dining room table nightly, and she served almost everything under the sun. On the ultra special occasions, she'd serve her to-die-for Standing Rib Roast. I just went wild for it, served with the peas and rice (because that's what we grew!), as well as hot steaming French bread. I miss those times! Beef is something I still enjoy, but apparently I don't eat it often enough! Recently I found myself at a steak house, confused while ordering in front of colleagues, because I didn't know my cuts. And I didn't know Hereford Beef, and I also didn’t know how it actually benefitted a healthy lifestyle. Hmmm. Time to change that!

I've been no stranger to skin cancer, and I've had some serious scares with melanoma, too. I have some major battle scars from that one, which is THE biggie, and staying sun-safe is of huge importance to me. Plus, I'm not getting any younger! (And if you are, please email me and tell me how!) So, I've been digging into anti-oxidant, anti-aging supplements, and I'm so encouraged by the advancements that have come onto the scene. There's a natural ingredient that I've been reading up on, fresh from nature itself, and I'm sold! I'll share with you why.

If you're like me, you've browsed through the produce section of the grocery store, seeing one label after the next, and yet not having a clue to who's behind that label! Well, let's peel it off and take a peek at who is behind one brand that I've seen forever! I did that with Spice World, and I had my eyes opened. I think you will, too!

I wasn't really exposed to drinking tea growing up, so it wasn't something that I knew a lot about – at first. As a young professional, I lived in NYC for about ten years, and my first go-to was typically coffee. But something changed – maybe I did, maybe my palate. Or maybe as a young woman from Arkansas who found herself smack dab in the middle of busy Manhattan leading a bustling life, perhaps tea just made me feel all grown up, and – dare I say it?–  sophisticated! Little did I know that there was a lot more behind that cup of tea than just an attitude adjustment.
